Carrera was launched by Tag Heuer’s honorary chairman Jack Heuer in 1964, it was in a leading position in legendary chronograph watches family. 2010, Carrera Calibre 1887 was equipped with the mechanical movment with vibration gears and integrated column wheel, continued Carrera’s lengendary stories. Taking the advantage of resources and technology accumulated in five generations, Tag Heuer has always been committed to dividing time into the most sophisticated intervals and has become the pioneer of Swiss advanced chronograph watch. The complexity of Tag heuer’s movements have met the most precise requirements in watchmaking industry. Numerous Tag Heuer’s chronograph mvoements have a good reputation, for example, the 1/100 a second Mikrograph in 1916, the Calibre 360, which received the Grand Prix d’Horlogeri Award in 2006 and became the first movement that could beat 360,000 per hour.

Today, the distinctive seven TAG Heuer mechanical chronograph movements and helping to consolidate the achievements of this peak: Dubois-Depraz designed Calibre 11 and 12, from ETA’s Calibre 16 and on December 17,2009 latest homemade Calibre 1887, the Calibre 36 and Calibre 360 developed with Zenith. In order to maintain the leading position in advanced watches, TAG Heuer should add some functional or structural characteristics to the movement that only supplied power, and to ensure supply. So at the beginning of 2006, Tag Heuer began to design the Calibre 1887, which is a remarkable precise and reliable automatic chronograph movement. In December 2009 at the McLaren Technology Centre, it officially came out, Calibre 1887 has eye-catching combinations in the design, now it was installed into the Carrera chronograph watch.

TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 Chronograph watch inherited the essence of legendary Carrera, which was designed in 1964 by Jack Heuer. Jack Heuer, the CEO in the 60s and 70s, was a genius helmsman behind the scenes when Tag Heuer was developing its iconic Monaco, Silverstone and Aquaracer. Now he was the Honorary Chairman of TAG Heuer, was still actively involved in the business. It could be said that he was a pivotal figure in the watch industry, he also oversaw the Carrera family members of each new design project. Based on the landmark 1964 watch, TAG Heuer Carrera 1887 chronograph was designed for the 21st century, the evolution version of the fine heritage of the original, easy to read and simple elegant character. To celebrate the 150th anniversary of TAG Heuer, taken from the original design and the essence, but to give new impetus to re-interpretation of the noble and elegant. With a high quality, superior performance and excellent accuracy of the Carrera 1887, with the brand dignified into the first three centuries.

Movement parts (including the motherboard, rutor and plates) and the case was manufacturered in the TAG Heuer’s Cornol workshop – the Cortech. In addition to the installation of plant machinery and equipment of Switzerland’s most cutting-edge technology, as well as in terms of fully automated precision micro stamping, grinding and polishing machines. Cortech plant installed at the same time, Switzerland’s most advanced screening and installation of automatic Calibre 1887 movement, a 39 jewels robot. Calibre 1887 is the most advanced column-wheel and the vibration gears integrated chronograph movement. Seiko Corporation of Japan (Seiko Instruments Inc-SII) 1997/99 on the TC78 is designed and patented the basic concept, Calibre 1887 is now the world’s latest advanced chronograph components (most of the currently existing can be traced back 70 chronograph or early 80s.) After obtaining intellectual property from the SII, TAG Heuer in the past 3 years, the key to re-design and re-development of the original, such as various types of plywood and board, and to increase the important technical features, such as vibration gear (1887 by Edouard Heuer patented the first time) install the eccentric adjustment screw. TAG Heuer also cooperate with the 22 parts plants (of which 21 in Switzerland), R & D other core parts, such as accessories, shock absorbers and kits. TAG Heuer is located in La Chaux-de-Fonds exclusive new plant for final assembly, with a fully sealed, dust-free semi-automatic production lines. Each movement is individually tested by sophisticated software to track, it must pass stringent quality testing of 116 layers. Experts from the Swiss T0 and T1 special automated machine workstations, replacing the human operator bias. Even so, the last still the master by TAG Heuer watches strict quality accreditation of staff. Calibre 1887 is a new Swiss-made, high quality mechanical chronograph movement. Cornol and La Chaux-de-Fonds plant has invested more than 2 million Swiss francs, and create 50 jobs within, and more partners in the whole of Switzerland. This ambitious plan, annual output will be tens of thousands of movement.

Vibration frequency of 28,800 BPH,  Calibre 1887 set with 39 jewels, size 29.3mm x 7.13mm, the movement was made of 320 pieces of machine parts, 50 hours power reserve. The movement was high performing, rugged and easy to maintain, it carried the new avant-garde design, brand patented vibration of gears 1887, and advanced chronograph watch integral column-wheel. Edouard Heuer patented the design by the vibration of gears 1887, and the column-wheel with the perfect, just as the cars drive like. Control pointer start, stop and zero column-wheel operation, functions like a car’s gear box. Timing function starts and the extreme precision and smooth, is considered an essential element of high watchmaking. The role of vibration as the clutch gears, optimizing the Calibre 1887 chronograph allows 2 / 1000 seconds to start. Calibre 1887 is equipped with high-performance on the same HER system, the tab is the world’s experts on the most efficient chain system, this bi-directional automatic winding system than most of the traditional Swiss chronograph reverse systems, performance, and more 30%.
